So I just read this at the Forbes blog…it shows that they measured the IQs of people who use different Web Browsers and found that IE users results were dramatically lower than people who used Firefox, Chrome, and Opera…
“After measuring the IQs of exactly 101,326 users and correlating their scores with the browser they had used to access the test, There was a clear indication … that the subjects using any version of Internet Explorer ranked significantly lower on an average than others”… I have some thoughts on this.
I have a hard time believing that the browser makes you dumber, so, I gave thought as to why maybe the more intelligent moved on to a different Browser.
Maybe that’s the biggest reason right there? The more intelligent knew there were better browsers and decided to try some out and relearn what their browser can offer? They wanted to personalize and add features to enhance it while the “less intelligent” simply used the pre installed old standard? That seems the most likely thing I can think of. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
The article also pointed out another interesting fact as well.
“It was revealed just last week that all British government computer systems must work and only work within IE6. This might be true of the US, I’m not sure. Which leaves us with a conundrum. Are all those extremely intelligent people we employ in government and who have to use IE6 absent from the survey, thus lowering the average IQ of IE users? Absent, for of course no public servant would bunk off work to fill out an online survey. Or are those public sector workers the only people left who use IE6 and thus they are included and we’ve a larger govnernance problem that we realised?”
^ that is an interesting point indeed. Feel free to leave comments or reblog this with ur comment attached.
So congrats Apple on becoming the 2nd largest company in the world. Right after Exxon Mobil. Apples stock now sells at $400 a share for the first time in the companies history.
And to Uncle Sam, well, it’s surprise you keep disappointing me. Washingtons operating budget is $73.768 billion while Apple has $75.876 billion in liquid cash.
Meanwhile the Top 1% of this country have a combined total of $80 trillion and are getting greedier.
YAY AMERICA!!!
Love the country, hate Wall Street and the gov.

I saw a blog from 48 Days that really made me think. I’d like to share it with you and comment in it.
“set your goals ridiculously high and you will fail above everyone else’s success” - James Cameron
That’s an interesting thought. Let’s say you set a goal to run 3 marathons a year. But you fail cuz you only ran 2, you still accomplished more than 99% of the world.
What if you decide to have the best marriage in the world but only eliminate 80% of the painful points in your marriage now?
What if you set a goal to raise your income from $50,000 a year to $100,000 and by Dec 31st you only hit $85,000?
Also, if you hit 100% of your goals each year, your not setting them high enough anyway. If a high jumper always clears the bar, you never know how good they really are. It’s only when they trip the bar that you know just how good they are.
Instead of setting the bar low, set it ridiculously high so when you do fail, you have failed above everyone else’s success.
So there is an article published by psychologists recently about this new addictive phenomenon called “iPhones”. Their saying there are signs of this in teens and adults. I fully went ahead and read completely sure that I was gonna be in this group of deranged ppl cuz I keep mine attached at the hip. But then I noticed a few “signs” that this was an agenda based article, although there are points I agree with. I’ll post some things from the article, link u to the full article, and post my thoughts after. Feel free to leave ur thoughts on this “phoneomenon” as well.
First they gave this list as signs u have this addiction. If u said “yes” to ANY of these u qualify
Does your iPhone know more about you than your: spouse, parents, friends or other important people in your life?
Have you ever misplaced or lost your iPhone and ended up in a frenzy filled with separation anxiety?
Does your iPhone have a name?
Do you dress your iPhone up in various outfits of cases, sleeves and charms to make it look good?
Do you ever pick up your iPhone and start doing something just to avoid eye contact or conversation with others?
^ that list to me is a psychology trick. It’s mixed with extreme and common “signs to add credibility”.
How many ppl can say if they lost their $200 or $300 phone with passwords, credit card info, contacts, ect saved on the phone they wouldn’t be anxiously trying to find it? Hell even as I lost a shitty phone I was worried chz that was my link to friends and family and I do not have these numbers memorized.
How many people don’t put a case on their phone to add protection but still want it to look good and not bulky or nerdy?
And even ppl without ANY kind of smartphone pretend to txt to get out of conversations or avoid eye contact as they walk by someone. But since these count as a “hit” for them they get more ppl to admit a couple of these and it BECOMES a phenomenon.
Now, they gave some better examples in an earlier point in the article which I believe are more fair to say. They took the iPhone away from people and they became under stimulated, heart rate dropped, and couldn’t entertain themselves. To me this is much more worrisome. But I doubt thats as common as they try to make it out to be. That’s pretty extreme.
“If u sleep by ur phone” that’s an addiction. Really? How many ppl with pay as u go phones do the same? And that’s about as detached as u can get to a cell phone.
OF COURSE I sleep by my iPhone. It’s my alarm clock, telephone, newspaper, book, TV, radio, stereo, dvd player, dictionary, encyclopedia, and mailbox. Last I looked, no one worried about me having any of those things near me. The fact this 1 device can replace all those is amazing. And that’s not even all it does.
I personally see extreme cases poppin up. But this type of goal oriented article is retarded. This is a change in tech and how we live our lives. Not an addiction. Usually I agree with a lot of studies but this is clearly trying to get some goal accomplished. Maybe fame idk. I went in fully expecting to be addicted but now I think this article is bogus.

The philosophy of the rich and the poor is this: the rich invest their money and spend what is left. The poor spend their money and invest what is left.
The rich buy assets. The poor only have expenses. The middle class buys liabilities they think are assets. The poor and the middle class work for money. The rich have money work for them.
